How to Avail GitHub Student Developer Pack — A Complete Guide
Learn to ship software like a pro. There’s no substitute for hands-on experience. But for most students, real world tools can be cost-prohibitive. That’s why we created the GitHub Student Developer Pack with some of our partners and friends: to give students free access to the best developer tools in one place so they can learn by doing.
Most students apply for the Pack using their school-issued email address. However, students whose schools don’t provide email addresses can also apply for the Pack using their dated student ID or Valid semester Challan Fee Documents.Please refer to this GitHub Blog for more details.
How to Apply?
Step 0 :
In case if you don’t have a GitHub account you can create your account on Github's official Website. Please Make Sure you SignUp from your University/College Email Address in case if you don't have a University/College Email ID You can Signup with your Gmail, Outlook, or any Prefered Email Account.
Step 1:
Go to Step 04 if you don't have a Student Email ID
If you are already using GitHub from Gmail or any Prefered Email Account and you have also a University/College Email ID (Edu) Please Go to GitHub Email Settings and Add your University/College Email ID After Verifying your Email You can Easily Avail Your GitHub Student Developer Pack.
Step 2:
After Verification of your University/College Email ID, you are eligible for the GitHub Student Developer Pack. Please Apply from here
Step 3:
For University / College Email ID Students
Select University/College Issue Email ID and Enter Your College/University Name if GitHub Allows Else System Detect Automatically University/College Name from University Domain. Just Let GitHub Know How do you plan to use GitHub. After Submit your Information You need to send Your University/College Proof of Identity.
Just Upload Your Proof if you have any document, University / College Issued Transcript, Student Card, or Challan Fee with Current Month and Year.
As I Submit my Student Card as proof of identity and lets hope for the best
Step 4:
For Non-University / College Email ID Students
Select your Gmail or any preferred Email Account You are using. After this, you need to add your University/College Name.
The last step is to Answer how do you plan to use GitHub.
After Submit Your Application You will redirect to the GitHub Student Developer Pack Verification page. Please Make sure you take a Good Picture of any Valid Student proof document in JPG or Png format. After Uploading Please Wait for your approval email.
Frequently Asked Question
My school does not provide student emails or IDs. What can I submit to prove that I’m a student?
GitHub will consider any documentation you provide. If they cannot accept your uploaded proof on your first attempt, you will receive an email asking you to submit supplementary information.
My application wasn’t accepted. What should I do?
Rejections are part of our life you should not lose your hope. You may need to provide additional documentation before they can approve your application. A common problem is that the uploaded proof was outdated, or the photo was too blurry. Regardless of the reason, they will try to provide context so that your next application has a greater chance of success.
